[PC/Dolphin] Evolution Snowboarding - Online Multiplayer Netplay Setup Guide

This guide explains how to play Evolution Snowboarding online using Dolphin Emulator's Netplay feature.

Evolution Snowboarding was originally designed for local multiplayer. Dolphin Netplay allows players on different computers to play the game's local multiplayer modes together over the internet.

==================================================
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
==================================================

ΓÇó Dolphin Emulator for desktop
ΓÇó Your own legally dumped copy of Evolution Snowboarding for Nintendo GameCube
ΓÇó A controller or configured keyboard
ΓÇó A stable internet connection
ΓÇó Another player
ΓÇó The same Dolphin version for all players
ΓÇó Matching copies of Evolution Snowboarding

==================================================
IMPORTANT GAME FILE NOTICE
==================================================

Dolphin Emulator does not include commercial Nintendo GameCube games.

SGAWeb does not host, distribute, or provide download links to copyrighted GameCube game images, ISOs, or other commercial game files.

Each player should supply their own legally obtained and dumped copy of Evolution Snowboarding.

This tutorial covers only Dolphin Emulator and Netplay configuration.

==================================================
STEP 1 - DOWNLOAD DOLPHIN EMULATOR
==================================================

Download Dolphin Emulator from the official website:

Official Dolphin Emulator Downloads

Install or extract Dolphin Emulator and launch it.

==================================================
STEP 2 - ADD EVOLUTION SNOWBOARDING TO DOLPHIN
==================================================

Open Dolphin Emulator.

Add the folder containing your legally dumped Evolution Snowboarding game file to Dolphin's game library.

Evolution Snowboarding should then appear in the Dolphin game list.

Before attempting Netplay, make sure the game launches and works correctly on each player's computer.

==================================================
STEP 3 - CONFIGURE YOUR CONTROLLER
==================================================

Open:

Controllers → GameCube Controllers

For Port 1, select:

Standard Controller

Click "Configure" and map the GameCube controls to your controller or keyboard.

Each player should test their controls before starting a Netplay session.

==================================================
STEP 4 - MAKE SURE BOTH PLAYERS MATCH
==================================================

Netplay works best when every player has a matching setup.

Before connecting, verify that all players are using:

ΓÇó The same Dolphin Emulator version
ΓÇó Matching copies of Evolution Snowboarding
ΓÇó Compatible game settings

Different game revisions, modified game files, or important configuration differences can cause synchronization problems.

==================================================
STEP 5 - OPEN DOLPHIN NETPLAY
==================================================

From Dolphin's main menu, open:

Tools → Start NetPlay

One player will host the session.

The other player will join the host.

==================================================
STEP 6 - HOST THE GAME
==================================================

The host should select the option to host a Netplay session.

Choose Evolution Snowboarding as the game.

Dolphin will create the Netplay session and provide the information needed for the other player to join.

Send the necessary room/session information only to the people you want to play with.

==================================================
STEP 7 - JOIN THE GAME
==================================================

The joining player should open:

Tools → Start NetPlay

Use Dolphin's available connection method and enter or select the session information provided by the host.

Once connected, both players should appear in the Netplay lobby.

==================================================
STEP 8 - ASSIGN CONTROLLERS
==================================================

Before starting the game, make sure each player is assigned to the correct GameCube controller port.

For example:

Player 1 → Port 1
Player 2 → Port 2

Additional players can be assigned to additional controller ports when supported by the selected multiplayer mode.

==================================================
STEP 9 - START EVOLUTION SNOWBOARDING
==================================================

Once everyone is connected and the controller assignments are correct, the host can start the game.

Enter Evolution Snowboarding's local multiplayer mode normally.

Dolphin Netplay will synchronize the multiplayer session between the connected computers.

==================================================
NETPLAY PERFORMANCE TIPS
==================================================

For the best experience:

ΓÇó Use a wired Ethernet connection when possible.
ΓÇó Close unnecessary downloads or bandwidth-heavy programs.
ΓÇó Make sure everyone uses the same Dolphin version.
ΓÇó Avoid changing emulator settings after the session begins.
ΓÇó Test controllers before launching the game.

Network latency can affect responsiveness because Dolphin must keep the players synchronized.

==================================================
TROUBLESHOOTING
==================================================

The game will not synchronize:

Confirm that everyone is using the same Dolphin version and matching copies of the game.

A player's controller does not work:

Return to the controller configuration and verify that the controller is configured correctly. Also check the controller-port assignments in the Netplay window.

The game is extremely slow or unstable online:

Check each player's internet connection and close applications using significant bandwidth.

The game works normally but Netplay does not:

Test the game outside Netplay first, restart Dolphin, and create a new Netplay session.

==================================================
OFFICIAL DOLPHIN NETPLAY DOCUMENTATION
==================================================

Dolphin's Netplay features and interface may change as the emulator is updated.
