This guide explains how to install reTHAWed for the PC version of Tony Hawk's American Wasteland and access its revived online multiplayer.

reTHAWed requires the PC files from Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.

The original PC release is no longer readily available through modern digital storefronts.

Users must supply their own PC installation/files before installing reTHAWed.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The updater cannot find my game

Verify that you selected the folder containing the PC files for Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.

Remember that the original game itself does not necessarily need to launch. reTHAWed primarily requires the base game's files.

My THAW installation is inside Program Files

Move the installation outside:

C:\Program Files\

and:

C:\Program Files (x86)\

Then run the reTHAWed Updater again and select the new location.

The updater will not start

Make sure Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 is installed.

My antivirus warns me about the updater

The reTHAWed developers state that some antivirus programs may flag the updater because it is an unsigned executable that downloads files from the internet.

Only obtain the updater from the official reTHAWed website.

If you are uncomfortable running a flagged executable, do not bypass your security software simply to continue installation. The project's source code is also available from its official page for users who want to inspect or build the updater themselves.

My controller does not work correctly

Check the controller/input configuration within reTHAWed and remap the controls if necessary.

I cannot connect to multiplayer

Check your internet connection and verify that your firewall is not preventing reTHAWed from accessing the network.
